RemixCAD: A Registry for Tweakable 3D Models

A public registry of reusable OpenSCAD models that makers and AI agents can search, tweak and republish, with source, license and lineage attached.

RemixCAD: A Registry for Tweakable 3D Models

I design a lot of functional 3D prints, and most models you find online are a dead end: an STL file you can't change. RemixCAD is a registry for parametric OpenSCAD models. You open a model, turn the parameters and download a version that fits. If you change the code, you publish it as a remix and the original keeps the credit.

Every parameter in the source becomes a control, and the 3D view renders the model with your values

Made for people and for agents

Next to the website, RemixCAD has an MCP server. An AI agent can search the registry, render a draft and publish a new version for you. Two rules I set early on. The portal itself contains no AI: it parses and renders, it doesn't generate. And a draft only becomes a public version after the maker approves it, in the chat or on the draft page.

How it was built

I wrote the product down before building it: a design brief, a glossary and 16 short decision records, from pinning one OpenSCAD version to rendering in the browser next to the server. Data lives in Supabase with row-level security, renders run in a separate worker and the viewer uses Three.js.
